Georgetown/EBD to clash in GFF U13 Challenge Series final

Georgetown and East Bank Demerara will face-off in the inaugural final of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) U13 Challenge Series following respective penalty kick wins yesterday at the National Training Centre, Providence. The Georgetown Academy Training Centre (ATC) defeated their Bartica counterpart by a 4-2 scoreline after regulation time ended 3-3.  Vurlon Mills, coach of the Georgetown unit during a post-match comment said, “Definitely Georgetown played the better football overall, I think in the latter part of the game, how we managed the time in the latter parts caused us to concede simple goals. I think definitely the team did what was taught to them during the week and executed it. From the first half into the second, we were the more attacking team, Bartica sit back and absorbed pressure.”

He further said, “I am pleased with the performance of the team, this was our best game by far despite the score line and does not reflect the true performance of the team. Our team was definitely outstanding today. My predictions before the tournament started was that East Bank and Georgetown would be in the finale.”

On the other hand, East Bank Demerara ATC defeated East Coast Demerara ATC by an identical 4-2 score on penalty kicks, following a scoreless normal time period.

The two winners will now battle for the coveted title on December 4th at the same venue while the losing semi-finalists will match skills in the third-place playoff.
