The Construction and Investment Management Group (CIMGRO), developers of the luxury housing project, Moraiko Bay, situated at Mahaica, have issued a call for Expression Of Interest (EOI) for multiple services and are seeking local content partnerships.

In an advertisement appearing in Sunday’s Kaieteur News, the company listed 19 areas in which services will be required. These range from supply of building materials and appliances, architectural & engineering design services, installation of air-conditioning units for residential and commercial buildings, construction services for homes, condominium and town houses, design and construction of water treatment facility and two kilometers of sea defence, design, construction and operation of a 240 berth marina, 50,000 gallon bulk fuel and retail gas stations, information technology services, interior decorating services, installation of street lighting and security services for the pre-construction and on-going construction phases. Additional services includes advertising & marketing, fine-dining and fast food restaurants, a build and operate specialty hospital, an international 12-acre educational facility campus design, landscaping services for 300 homes and an 18-hole golf course and installation and maintenance of fire hydrants. The project in its entirety is valued at US$1.4 Billion.

According to the advertisement, interested companies can submit their expressions of interest by January 11, 2022 to 83, Lamaha Street or email all necessary documents to rr@cimgro.com. In Sep-tember, Director of Opera-tions Sudama Ramalin-gum, a principal of the company, had told Stabroek News that they were eyeing January (2022) for the sod-turning activity. In that interview, he indicated that they (CIMGRO), have secured the requisite permits and are putting all the necessary systems in place to get construction off the ground. Ramalingum had however said that the drainage infrastructure and road network in preparation for construction were still in their developmental phases.

“Maraiko Bay is going to provide a housing community with the amenities that can outmatch anything in Guyana and suit the western lifestyle. We have to ensure we give people a home where they feel safe, an environment that is healthy, and the freedom of movement of their family and themselves with a lifestyle they are proud of,” he underscored, saying that they are working assiduously to get the project off the ground.

According to Ramalingun, Phase One of the project will include the construction of 515 houses, a hotel, a hospital, an international school, a nine-hole PGA-level golf course, and a recreational facility. He added that one of the components that was stalled due to pandemic-related travel limitations was recently completed; this was the soil testing for over a 1000-acres of land. In addition, Phase One would encompass 150 condos, 200 luxury homes and 50 executive homes, a commercial centre and other amenities all set for completion within 14 months. The project aims to construct 2,200 single homes and 800 condominium-style homes. Ragindra Persaud, a principal in the project, had previously said they are prepared to work with Guyanese in the construction sector to realise their vision of the community.

The housing development is located along two miles of beach on the Atlantic Ocean and bordered by the Mahaica River.
