Autopsies on Nicholas Low-a-Chee and Elizabeth Sasha Low-a-Chee, the couple discovered dead in their Sarah Johanna, East Bank Demerara (EBD) home earlier this week confirmed that they both died as a result of gunshot injuries to their heads.

Elizabeth was also shot in her abdomen.

Deputy Director of the Guyana Police Force’s (GPF) Cor-porate Communications Unit, Stan Gouveia yesterday confirmed the findings of the autopsies which were performed by Government Pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh.

He said the autopsies revealed that Nicholas sustained a single gunshot wound in  his head while Elizabeth was shot in her head and abdomen.

Sources told Stabroek News that the gunshot injuries were inflicted at close range.

The police had previously stated that the bodies of Nicholas and Elizabeth were processed for gunshot residue and blood samples from Nicholas were taken along with what was found in the bedroom for DNA testing.

Gouveia said the police are still awaiting the results from the Guyana Forensic Science laboratory.

Stabroek News was informed that from all indications Nicholas shot Elizabeth and then turned the weapon on himself.

The couple of Lot 1-3 Sarah Johanna  was last seen by neighbours last Sunday at around 10am.

The discovery of the bodies was made on Tuesday morning by an uncle of Nicholas.

After numerous calls to Nicholas went unanswered, at around 7.30 am on Tuesday, an individual who is known to the family informed relatives that something was amiss as the back door to the couple’s home was open.

An uncle upon investigating ventured into the house and called out for Nicholas but got no response. This led him to proceed further into the house, in the direction of the bedroom. As the man walked up to the bedroom he started getting a foul scent. As he pushed open the door to the bedroom, he stumbled upon the bodies of the couple in pools of blood on the bed and floor.

The uncle also observed what appeared to be a handgun, about two feet east of Nicholas’s body.

The death of the couple left their family members and friends puzzled since they said that they had no domestic dispute and they were happy together.

The coupled tied the knot in August, 2021 after being together for more than five years.
