Venezuelan charged with murder of man at Arau

A Venezuelan national was yesterday charged with the murder of a man he reportedly bludgeoned during an argument over raw gold at Arau mountaintop, Cuyuni River, Region Seven. 

Elith Osorio Dominguez, 21, a Venezuelan national of Puerto la Cruz, Venezuela, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court where Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus read the murder charge to him.

It is alleged that on January 1, 2022, at Arau mountaintop, Cuyuni River, he murdered Animal Sonja, 51, a Venezuelan national of Valencia, Venezuela

The matter was adjourned until February 14 and transferred to the Kamarang Magistrate’s Court. 

According to the police, between 02:45 hours and 03:00 hours, the two men who know each other, were at Dominguez’s sister’s camp. It was reported that the two men were engaged in an argument over raw gold. The argument became heated and Dominguez allegedly picked up a piece of wood and struck Sonja in the head, causing him to fall to the ground where he remained motionless. Dominguez escaped afterwards.
