Seven men arrested after cops find guns, ammo in Stevedore home

Police have arrested seven men after they discovered two firearms and four rounds of ammunition in a house at Stevedore Dam, Georgetown following a raid.

According to a statement from the police, they were acting on information when they visited the flat wooden house and discovered the firearms along with five men.

Police searched the house and discovered one 9mm pistol along with two matching live rounds and a .38 revolver also with two matching rounds. The illegal firearms were found on a chair in the living room of the home.

The men were told of the offences committed, arrested and cautioned.

Additionally, the Police said that they have impounded two Haojue motorcycles which were seen in the yard without any registration numbers. While attempting to impound the bikes, two other men arrived at the scene and sought to prevent the officers from leaving with the five men and the two bikes.

They allegedly attacked the officers with beer bottles but were subdued and arrested. All the men were taken to the East La Penitence Police Station along with the motorcycles, firearms and ammunition. They remain in custody as investigations continue.
