President Irfaan Ali yesterday expressed shock at the passing of former PNCR Member of Parliament and owner of Guysons Engi-neering Limited, Kadim ‘Kads’ Khan, who was pronounced dead yesterday morning.

He was 69 years old.

According to a relative of Khan, he was found unresponsive in his bed and was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. A post-mortem examination is expected sometime today.

This newspaper understands that Khan had spoken to a family member from his Bel Air Park home on Tuesday night and seemed in “good spirits”.

News of Khan’s sudden passing shocked not only the President, but many of his friends and former colleagues.

“It is with great sadness that I received the news this morning on Kad’s passing. Only last Friday we were talking about the development of Guyana and the future of Guyana and his excitement about where Guyana was going,” President Irfaan Ali last evening lamented.

“I know he was full of life and raring to have this project started in Enmore. He was very excited by the project,” Ali added, while saying that Khan’s legacy will live on and he will be remembered for the vision he had for Enmore and even more when it is realised.

The President conveyed condolences to Khan’s staff and family saying that he had a special message for the family and that it is “I pray that they are strengthened at this time… and will live to see his legacy realised.”

The PNCR yesterday morning announced Khan’s “sudden” passing as the party expressed condolences. “The PNCR extended condolences to his family, relatives and friends at this time in their moment of grief,” the party posted on its Facebook page.

Former PNC executive and colleague, Raphael Trotman, took to his Twitter page to also express condolences as he wrote “Kads Khan, a good man gone too soon. R.I.P. Kads.”

Guysons recently struck a deal with a US company for a machining business at the site of the Enmore sugar packaging plant. Khan had attended the ceremony.
