Body found at Richmond identified

The body of a man that was discovered by residents of Richmond Village in Region Two was positively identified on Wednesday by relatives.

He was Jewan Khemraj, also known as ‘Labaria’, 60, formerly of Cornelia Ida, on the West Coast of Demerara.

Khemraj’s body was discovered in a clump of bushes by residents on Tuesday morning around 07:00 hours. His body bore no marks of violence.

According to his sister, Sadna Singh, her brother left the West Coast at age 20 for Region Two. He subsequently married in Region Two but later separated. She also disclosed that his relatives tried many times to take him back to Cornelia Ida, but he would insist on returning to Richmond.

Khemraj had no children and was a known alcoholic.  Singh informed that relatives will take care of the funeral arrangements and will be cremating his remains.
