Seeking to avoid any claim of apparent bias, Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan last Friday recused herself from presiding in the trial of the former Finance Minister Winston Jordan, who is accused of misconduct in public office.

McLennan announced the decision when the matter was called last Friday.

As a result, the matter was transferred Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus and is fixed for May 12, 2022.

Jordan was charged with misconduct last December in relation to the sale of a prime piece of state-owned property to BK Marine Inc at below market value.

The charge stated that the property, Mudlots 1 & 2, F of Mudlot 3, A, B & D, situated at North Cummingsburg, Georgetown, was valued at $5 billion but was sold for $20 million.

Jordan, who was not required to plead to the charge, was released on $3 million bail.
