Two men fetching a barrel containing a quantity of marijuana were busted by police patrolling in Meadow Bank, Greater Georgetown and are now currently in police custody assisting with investigations.

Police yesterday said that the men were carrying a blue plastic barrel into an empty lot when ranks observed them.

The men upon seeing the police sprinted out of the lot empty handed. However, they were apprehended and escorted back to the lot.

Other items discovered during the search

The barrel was then opened in the presence of the duo and a crocus bag was observed inside. An inspection of the bag revealed five brown bulky parcels that were all taped and contained seeds, leaves and stems suspected to be cannabis. When weighed they amounted to 18 pounds.

Also in the sack was a multi coloured bag which contained one military camouflage hat, shirt, pants, mask, gloves, bullet proof vest, and one pair of black boots.

The suspects were told of the offence and they denied having knowledge of the contents.

The suspected narcotics was sealed and lodged to be taken to the forensic laboratory while the other items were also lodged.
