Guyana to attend Saudi-Caribbean Investment Forum

Senior Minister in the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance, Dr. Ashni Singh says that the Government of Guyana and the Private Sector will be participating in the Saudi-Caribbean Investment Forum from 6th to 8th July 2022.

A statement yesterday from the Ministry of Finance said the forum is being hosted by the Caribbean Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (CAIPA) in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The statement said that the forum will provide opportunities for Guyana to bolster its relationship with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as participants will be able to present projects to prospective Saudi investors.

Priority sectors for focus include logistics and transportation, renewable energy, infrastructure, hotel and resort development and agribusiness.

In February of this year, a high-level delegation from Saudi Arabia led by Adel Ahmed Al-Jubeir, Minister of State, Foreign Affairs and Members of the Saudi Arabia Council of Ministers visited Guyana.  Among the key issues discussed was collaboration between the two countries in areas of oil and gas, climate change and investment opportunities.
