Defending champion Christianburg/Wismar retained their Milo Secondary School Football Championship, defeating North Ruimveldt 3-1 yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
The trident of Jamil James, Ryan Arthur and eventual tournament Most Valuable Player (MVP) Omarion Ramsammy scored in the 40th, 75th and 90th+1 minute respectively. For the loser, Yannick Norton found the back of the net in the 61st minute.
With the result, the Lindeners will walk away with $300,000, the championship trophy, and gold medals. On the other hand, the runner-up will pocket $200,000, the corresponding accolade, and silver medals.
Meanwhile, Golden Grove bested Dolphin 1-0 in the third place playoff. Kelvin Richardson scored in the 10th minute. Due to the outcome, Golden Grove will collect $100,000, a trophy, and bronze medals while the fourth place side will receive $75,000 and a trophy.
On the individual side of the presentation, Dequan Austin of the defending champion was adjudged the Best Goalkeeper while Akeem Perreira of the losing finalist copped the Highest Goal Scorer accolade with seven conversions.
