The case was adjourned to September 28 when it will be called again at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court Two.

Police had said that the sisters turned themselves in at the Turkeyen Police Station along with the murder weapon after launching the attack around 6 pm on Monday.

They were charged based on legal advice obtained from the Chambers of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The facts presented by the police stated that Jason and Greaves are Anderson’s neighbours but they were not speaking to each other due to a previous misunderstanding.

The court heard that on the day in question, Anderson was at home with her sister and brother-in-law when the two accused started to throw remarks at her. An argument then ensued between Anderson and the sisters.

Anderson subsequently left  her home to head to a shop. On her way, she passed Jason and Greaves who were standing on the road in the vicinity of her home.

Greaves allegedly pulled out a knife and handed it to Jason who ran after Anderson and stabbed her in the back.

Anderson was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

A post-mortem examination showed that Anderson died as a result of stab wounds to the back.

One of the dead woman’s cousins, Shavella Moses had told Stabroek News that the attack stemmed from a break-and-enter incident.

“Well according to what I heard they had an incident last week with the girls and Vanessa, well the incident was a break and enter at the furniture store in the next street and like he [the owner of the furniture store] took the police over at the girls’ house and Vanessa and her sisters them was on the landing sitting and Vanessa six-year-old daughter came to her aunty and told her that the police is next door so they get up now to look through the window to see wuh going on and the girls now after spotting Vanessa and she sisters looking over they decided to start cussing them… anyway the story come and it done there”, the cousin said.

Moses went on to say that another argument ensued between the women on Monday and it was then the attack was launched by the sisters.

“It stem again back yesterday [Monday], so Vanessa and the girls them had another argument it wasn’t no fight, they were arguing and cussing one another and stuff, duh was all, but duh police incident is wuh occurred and wuh start the whole story.”
