The Ministry of Agriculture (MOA)  yesterday signed $161 million in contracts for several projects as part of its 2022 Capital Programme, including one to construct an agro-processing facility in White Water Creek, Region One.

The signing of contracts took place at MOA’s main boardroom. The contract for the construction of the agro-processing facility was awarded to Supreme Contracting and Supplies for $25,508,582. Agriculture Minister Zulfikar Mustapha advised the contractor to execute all works in a timely manner and within the specifications.

White Water is one of the communities in Region One that is prone to flooding and the facility is expected to benefit approximately 250 households while giving farmers greater market access for their products.

Three other contracts were signed, two of which are for consultancy services for supervision of the Charity pump station for $21, 064,000 and the construction of a sluice for $18,549,450, which were awarded to E&A Consultants and Chemo Inc.

The final contract is for the supply and delivery of fertilizers to NAREI, which was awarded to Cyril Singh Agricultural Enterprise for $96,600,000.
