Language is but a tool that changes with use

Dear Editor,

I want to comment on your editorial “The Vanishing Art Of Handwritten Letters”….I can’t say enough on a positive note about the excellent quality and philosophy of the article.  It is refreshing to once again see such wonderful wording, correct punctuation.  Therefore as a Guyanese, it is now especially amusing when I am asked “What language do you speak in your native Guyana “!!!

I am going to pass this editorial to my friends, especially those in the education field, as an example of correct and proper English….alas!  I must accept the philosophy that language is but a tool that changes with use! Incidentally, I left our shores when I was but twenty; do the math! Please forgive the split infinitive…

Sincerely,

Cal Yong
