Guyana’s latest West Indies test player Tagenarine Chanderaul, former West Indies off-spinner Clyde Butts and businessman Ramesh Sunich, known for his benevolence towards sportsmen and sports associations alike were inducted as Everest Cricket Club’s Life members recently.
The club also took the opportunity to reward their Masters team for the staggering and unprecedented feat of playing unbeaten in the just-concluded season.
The Everest Masters cricket team won all 15 of their completed matches during their 2022 season.
Saheed Mohamed, one of the main architects of the team’s success was adjudged the best batsman for the fifth consecutive year. Mohammed slammed a superb century on his way to scoring an aggregate of 513 runs.
He also threw in four half-centuries for good measure.
The batting though was not altogether a one man show as Basil Persaud racked up 253 runs and Sahadeo Hardaiow 195.
Off-spinner Randy Lindore bagged 13 wickets and was adjudged the team’s best bowler, an award he took home for the second year.
Ronald Jaisingh (12 wickets) and Rajesh Singh (11 wickets) supported their team, admirably.
Singh, the team captain, who presented a report on the team’s activities throughout the year, thanked his teammates urging them not to rest on their laurels but be determined to do even better this year.
The ceremony was attended by
Minister of Natural Resources, Vickram Bharrat, who congratulated the team for its inspiring performances.
Sunich’s recognition as Honorary Life Member is most deserving. His Trophy Stall Enterprise has been a consistent contributor to sports clubs not only Everest and associations over the years providing trophies and such like.
