Pomeroon woman remanded over murder of grandmother

Twenty-three-year-old Stephanie Gamell, a teacher of Richmond Housing Scheme, was yesterday remanded on the charge of murdering her 75-year-old grandmother, Agatha Gamell,  when she appeared virtually before Magistrate Esther Sam at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court.

The court heard that Gamell is currently receiving psychological help and is recovering from postpartum depression. Following the murder, Gamell was hospitalised and was being treated for her  condition.

The lifeless body of 75-year-old Agatha Gamell was discovered on Novem-ber, 27, 2022 in her Charity home. Her body was battered and her throat slit.

Prior to the murder, Stephanie Gamell had given birth to her first child.

The case was adjourned to February 27th.
