Castrol Strikers stay perfect after edging Eagles 3-2

Castrol Strikers maintained their perfect record in the Demerara Volleyball Association (DVA) Senior Men’s League, overcoming Eagles 3-2 on Tuesday evening at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.

Castrol seized the early initiative by winning the first set 25-16. However, Eagles responded in the second set to level proceedings at 1-1, prevailing by a 27-25 score-line.

Eagles then soared ahead at 2-1 as they clinched the third set 25-23.

The fixture would require a fifth set to decide the outcome however  as Castrol equalised at 2-2 after winning the fourth set 25-14.

Castrol would then secure the come-from-behind result as they prevailed 15-7 in the final set. It was the third consecutive victory for Castrol following previous wins against Alphas and Venguy respectively.

The tournament resumes on Friday at the same venue with Venguy battling Young Achievers from 8 pm.
