Jagdeo says gov’t ready to greenlight local gov’t polls

With the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) signalling that it will be ready for Local Govern-ment Elections (LGE) by the end of November, the government yesterday confirmed that it will move to hold the polls immediately after a formal notification, by which time proposed reforms should be enacted.

BA to fly here from March

Months of negotiations between the Guyana Government and the United Kingdom flag carrier, British Airways (BA) have resulted in the airline agreeing to commence twice-weekly flights from March 2023, Minister of Public Works Juan Edghill announced yesterday.
