National C/ships to get off to fast start tomorrow

“We are all set and ready to go” were the words of president of the Athletic Association of Guyana (AAG), Aubrey Hutson yesterday regarding the three-day National Senior Championships which gets off to a fast start tomorrow at the National Track and Field Centre.

The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Charles Ramson Jr.,  along with chairman of the National Sports Commission, Kashif Muhammad hit the ground running yesterday, bringing the newly appointed Director of Sport, Steve Ninvalle up to speed with ongoing works at the National Racquet Centre, the National Gymnasium and the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

NSC big three visit facilities being upgraded

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Charles Ramson Jr., gave newly appointed Director of Sport (DoS), Steve Ninvalle a public vote of confidence yesterday following their first site visits to facilities being upgraded around the city.

The Guyanese quartet of Nolex Holder, Akeem Stuart, Jeremy Bascom and Emanuel Archibald placed third in the men’s 4x100m relay event in 40.02s. They were led by quartets from Brazil (39.10s) and Colombia (39.65s).

Team Guyana’s 12-athlete contingent wrapped up its Senior South American Championship campaign in Guayaquil, Ecuador yesterday with five medals including a bronze in the Men’s 4x100m relay.
