MCYS injects $450,000 into Schools Chess Championships

In a continuing effort to promote sports in schools the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) partnered with the Guyana Chess Federation (GCF) to launch the national schools chess championships yesterday at the MCYS office, Main Street.

GRFU to issue in-depth statement on players’ suspension today

President of the Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU), Kit Nascimento last evening said that the GRFU will today issue a statement, giving full details of the three suspended rugby players’ actions of misconduct and indiscipline at this year’s Commonwealth Games.

Georgetown sweep All-Star games

– As Seniors edge Linden in overtime On the heels of claiming the Junior All-Star title, Georgetown’s Senior All-Star team clinched a 78-77 victory in overtime over Linden’s Senior All-Stars to sweep the Linden-Georgetown All-Star games of Wildfire Entertainment’s All-Star Basketball Weekend at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on Saturday night.
