Muslim organisations in peace and solidarity walk today

A number of local Muslim organisations are holding a ‘Peace and Solidarity Walk and Rally’ today to pray for peace and unity of the Muslim Ummah (Global Muslim Nation) and to call for an end of the bloodshed and massacre of innocent people, especially children in Syria, Egypt, Burma, Palestine and other countries plagued by sectarian conflicts.

Creditinfo Guyana was yesterday licensed as the country’s first ever credit bureau and Bank of Guyana (BoG) Governor Lawrence Williams said it will usher in an era where the lack of collateral will no longer be a barrier to citizens and businesses trying to access credit financing.

Sugar production for year around 81,000 tonnes

The Guyana Sugar Corpora-tion has produced just over 4,000 tonnes for the week, bringing the total sugar production for the year to a poor 81,000 tonnes, far from the 240,000 that had been projected at the start of the year.
