Sheriff St to stay two-lane after businesses oppose expansion

Plans for a four-lane highway for Sheriff Street have been shelved after objections were raised by businesses but sidewalks and other improvements remain part of a US$24M project that will also greatly transform Mandela Avenue.

Amaila is not dead, says Ramotar

President Donald Ramotar yesterday asserted that the Amaila Falls Hydro Project would move ahead and he reiterated that the government would look at other partners to make the project possible following the withdrawal of developer Sithe Global.

Vendors removal to enable upgrade of Amerindian residence -PS

Vendors have been barred from the compound of the Amerindian Residence on Princes Street in order to facilitate the upgrade of the building and its surroundings, according to Ministry of Amerindian Affairs Permanent Secretary Nigel Dharamlall, who signalled that the structure will be rebuilt.
