M&CC will continue to push ahead with parking meters
Dear Editor, On February 3, 2017 an allegedly People Progressive Party (PPP) sponsored protest was held on the northern side of City Hall, Regent Street, Lacytown.

Dear Editor, City parking and parking meters is a hot topic these days, and the atmosphere of hostility which surrounds this issue is very common whenever the system is challenged.
Dear Editor, On Feb 3, 2017 President Trump signed the executive order ‘Core Principles for Regulating the United States’ Financial System,’ which is his way of ‘doing a big number’ on the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, the 2010 legislation that followed the 2008 financial crisis and ‘great recession.’
Dear Editor, I was originally only going to focus this letter on the alternative facts spread by Bharrat Jagdeo’s picayune ‘media empire’ (iNews/TVG/Radio Guyana/MTV) regarding the riveting fantasy of my fugitive run from the long arms of the law for a deliberately and clearly ironic Facebook status on the parking meter issue and what I believe to its parallel and its vast superior in scale, the Sanata complex deal, but events of the past few days warrant commentary.
Dear Editor, I wish to support the excellent letter written by Dr David Hinds in KN of February 1 making a strong case against terminating the services of proficient and effective officials on the basis of their age, irrespective of their competencies.
Dear Editor The Summer Olympics have come and gone and while some of Guyana’s Caribbean neighbours can celebrate the achievements of their athletes continuing to win medals in track and field in particular, Guyana is still a long way from even repeating the lone bronze medal achievement of Michael Parris.
Dear Editor, While The Caribbean Voice awaits suicide figures for 2017 we must point out that even though such figures may well indicate a decline over the previous year because of the work of all stakeholders, they would invariably be rather conservative.
Dear Editor, The parking meters are here adding to the welcome physical transformation of the city: orderliness, cleanliness and beauty are gradually replacing chaos, filth and tatter.
Dear Editor, It is with disappointment and frustration that I pen this letter about the selfish and uncaring Directors at the Guyana Public Service Co-operative Credit Union who have not held an Annual General Meeting for the last four years to meet and discuss with members their concerns about how our monies are being spent and if we are entitled to our dividends.
Dear Editor, I remain befuddled by a full page advertisement which appeared in your newspaper issue of February 1, under the caption ‘We Thank You All…Movement Against Parking Meters.’
Dear Editor, The AFC should stand for fairness. Mr Moses Nagamootoo, our Prime Minister, is a veteran politician, journalist and attorney-at-law, and he should see justice.
Dear Editor, President Granger’s partial announcement on the dispatch of some members of the over-the-hill gang caught me napping; if it was boxing, I would have appealed immediately for late and low blows.
Dear Editor, I am writing to express my sincere appreciation to the Guyana Fire Service for the prompt and efficient service which undoubtedly contained the recent fire to the top flat at my home in Republic Park.
Dear Editor, As a person in the cricket fraternity I tend to agree fully with those who see the state of cricket in Berbice as worrying.
Dear Editor, Unnecessary inconvenience, hardship and suffering are being endured by litigants in Region 2 whenever their cases which would normally be dealt with at the sitting of the Suddie Court are transferred to the Charity Court.
Dear Editor, From all indications there is no single, unified national position on the parking meter issue.
Dear Editor, Over the past few weeks, there have been a number of occurrences in the legal fraternity which have excited public attention and concern.
Dear Editor, I would like to commend former President Donald Ramotar on the sudden recovering of his faculty of memory with regard to necessary imprimatur on the Red House ‘lease’.
Dear Editor, Recent decisions in the transportation sector and the subsequent public outcry have made it clear that open government is increasingly becoming a necessity.
Dear Editor, The removal of Justice Cecil Kennard as Chairman of the Police Complaints Authority on the grounds of his age is a clear case of discrimination.
