The calendar has flipped to January and naturally it is time for the New Year’s fitness resolutions.

It is difficult to avoid the shocking events of Wednesday last in the United States of America.

It seems not a day, and certainly not a week, passes without our stomachs being turned by appalling news of women cruelly abused, beaten and, often enough, murdered in headline-hot, red blood.

Introduction In the previous three columns I have been addressing the August 2020 IDB report, which estimates prospective Guyana Government Take (revenues) accruing from its one- year- old crude oil and gas sector.

Going in, I admit to being rather easily astonished, so perhaps it’s not strange that I am completely bowled over by some of the actions one sees ordinary citizens in their daily lives delivering to various animals and birds in their care.
