Follow directions given by CCJ

Commonwealth Secretary General Patricia Scotland yesterday strongly encouraged GECOM to “follow the directions given by the CCJ and decisively conclude the 2 March 2020 elections based on the results of the national recount.”

Also included are: the declaration made on March 13 following the second Region 4 declaration by Returning Officer Clairmont Mingo and the certified results of the National Recount completed on June 8. Lowenfield appears to have used Mingo’s declaration and altered those of the Districts One, Two, Five, Six, Seven and Eight.

Lowenfield defies GECOM Chair

Embattled Chief Election Officer (CEO) Keith Lowenfield yesterday presented figures to the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) showing a victory for the incumbent APNU+AFC—in clear defiance of the instruction by the Chair Claudette Singh to utilise the recount tabulation which shows a win for the opposition PPP/C.

PPP calls for Lowenfield’s removal

The opposition People’s Progressive Party (PPP) on Saturday added its voice to calls for the Chief Election Officer (CEO) Keith Lowenfield to be dismissed for insubordination, while its presidential candidate Irfaan Ali accused him of denying the Guyanese electorate their democratically-elected government.

Lowenfield not acting in interest of democracy

Following Chief Election Officer Keith Lowenfield’s decision to disregard the request by the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) Chairperson Claudette Singh to submit a report on the outcome of the general elections using the results of the national recount exercise, the Organization of American States (OAS) yesterday said his actions were unjustifiable.

Behaviour of gov’t officials raise ‘serious doubts’ over acceptance of CCJ ruling – Golding

Former Jamaica Prime Minister ­, who headed the Organization of American States (OAS) election observer mission to Guyana, has said that the behaviour of government functionaries has raised “serious doubts” over whether they will accept the ruling of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) that has prevented the Chief Election Officer (CEO) from invalidating over 115,000 votes from the March 2nd polling.
