Rain once again limited play in the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) senior Inter County four-day match between Demerara and the President’s XI at the Demerara Cricket Club ground, Queenstown.
Demerara, resuming on 107-1 with Rajendra Chandrika (52) and Shemroy Barrington (13) at the crease, reached 157-5 at close of play as only 30.3 overs were bowled in the day.
Both batsmen fell within sight of milestones as Chandrika was lbw to Seon Daniels for 73 and Barrington was dismissed for 32.
The President’s XI rubbed salt into Demerara’s wounds by also removing Chanderpaul Hemraj and Joseph Perry with both batsmen failing to come off the mark. Daniels was the pick of the bowlers with 3-34 while Brandon Bess collected 1-24.
At Wales in the other match between GT&T Berbice and Essequibo, ran only allowed 90 minutes of play with Essequibo ending on 123-9 after resuming on their overnight score of 55-3.
The GT&T Berbice bowlers were denied the opportunity to bowl out Essequibo as play began at 3:30 pm. and finished promptly at 5pm.
Essequibo resumed with Ricardo Adams not out on five and Herell Greene, 14 not out at the wicket but both batsmen failed to contribute meaningfully to their team’s cause.
Wickets fell rapidly with only Anthony Adams showing resistance with 21 while Greene added four more to his overnight score to take his score to 18. Gudakesh Motie-Kanhai was the leading wicket taker with 3-27, off spinner Eon Hooper took 2-23 and Clinton Pestano had 2 for 39 and Steven latcha 1-25.
The matches are set to continue today.
