-court hears

A Festival City man was yesterday charged with robbing the same man twice in attacks that took place within days of each other.

Trevor Gilgeous pleaded not guilty to the charges when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court One.

Prosecutor Michael Grant said Gilgeous, while in the Georgetown district, robbed Keith McKenzie twice.

The first attack occurred on the 6th of April, when it is alleged that Gilgeous relieved McKenzie of a sum of $25,000. Grant related that the man then robbed McKenzie again that week on the 10th of April, this time taking from the man a cellphone worth $5,000.

Gilgeous was granted bail on both charges. On the first charge, bail was set at $60,000, while on the second charge it was at $25,000.

The case was subsequently transferred to Courts 8&9 before Magistrate Faith McGusty.
