$11.3M rehab centre commissioned at Suddie

The $11.3 million Rehabi-litation Department at Suddie Public Hospital, Essequibo Coast was formally declared open yesterday, with Health Minis-ter Dr Bheri Ramsaran stressing the importance of family members in the lives of patients requiring therapy.

Ramsaran told the gathering how important the facility is and that it will foster better care for patients who are in need of therapy whether it be speech or physiotherapy. “As the health minister, I would like to see other forums at other venues like this on the Essequibo Coast,” he said. “We recognise how important rehabilitation is and not only the caregivers, nurses and doctors have a job to do but each family member must be involved to help those who cannot help themselves.”
