Ministry clarifies its typo on fines

The Agriculture Ministry in a clarification yesterday said that due to a typographical error the fine payable by Barama Company Limited in respect of the N.Sukul & Sons concession was stated as $12,419,244 instead of the $2,419,244.

It means that Barama Company Ltd is liable to $96.4M in total fines and not $106M as stated in yesterday’s Stabroek News.

In a clarification statement issued yesterday by the Agriculture Ministry it noted that the fines are as follows: breach in Concession issued to A. Mazaharally & Sons: $78,081,800.00, breach in Concession issued to N. Sukul & Sons: $2,419,244 and breach in Concession issued to Barakat Timbers Limited $15 982,104, for a total fine of $96,483,148.
