Accused of theft, did not want settlement, but money paid by relative

Dear Editor,

I was arrested and incarcerated at the Suddie Police Station for the full 72 hours during investigations that I was alleged to have stolen some crushed stone belonging to a wealthy businessman (name provided) while it was on a heap by the Riverstown creek some time ago.

While in custody, I maintained my innocence to the police and made it known that I would prefer to be charged and placed before the court, and said I was in total disagreement with a settlement when it was put to me.
