A teenage mini-bus conductor was yesterday granted $50,000 bail when he appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton on a charge of robbery under arms.
Donald Prescott, 17, of 335 Section B Non Pariel, East Coast Demerara was not required to plead to the indictable charge of robbing Shameer Abraham at gunpoint of one Casio wristwatch and a cap valued at $31,000.
Attorney-at-law Nigel Anthony representing Prescott told the court the matter is an unfortunate situation for his client. He said that on the day in question Prescott was visiting his girlfriend at Quamina Street. He then proceeded to Jerry’s on Camp Street where he purchased something to eat and then he went to Camp and Middle Streets to await a mini-bus to travel to the East Coast bus park. It was here, according to Anthony, where a police vehicle pulled up with two civilians inside and one of them pointed out Prescott as the person who had robbed him on May 3 at Light and Robb Streets.
