Commonwealth boxing hopefuls up and riding

Six junior boxers training for the Commonwealth Games scheduled to be held in India in October were yesterday aided by relatives of the late Farouk Kalamadeen.

(Clairmonte Marcus photo)Clevon Rock and Akeen Alexander of the Guyana Defence Force Gym, Moonchand Sankar and Rhondell Douglas (Agricola Ricola), Orlando Allicock (Forgotten Youth Foundation) and Stefan Gouveia from the Harpy Eagle Gym were the recipients of six new bicycles.

Mimoon Bacchus and her nieces Nazrene Mirza and Lin Alladin were the warm-hearted women who donated the bikes to commonwealth boxing hopefuls; which were purchased from the China Trading Shopping Centre on Robb Street.

From these six athletes,  four will be selected to represent Guyana in Punai, India.
