Griffith impresses selectors

By Kizan Brumell

Good, positive stroke play from Trevon Griffith may have dazzled the selectors who were all present at the commencement of the second U-19 cricket trial match at the Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary, yesterday Inclement weather caused the scheduled first day’s play on Tuesday to be washed out and the weather continued yesterday morning and play finally commenced at 12:30 hrs.

Royan Fredericks won the toss against opposite number Royston Alkins and sent Alkins’s team in to take first strike and Griffith wasted little time leading the way with a solid half century as Alkins’s XI reached 180-7 before being called in to switch posts.

Griffith’s half century came from 129 balls and he was eventually dismissed for 69 after hitting three fours and three sixes in his three hours and two minutes knock.

Griffith received support from Michael Felix, whose 32 included two fours and Keno Gravesande who struck a solitary six in his cameo 23.
Leon Scott picked up 2 – 31 from six overs while right arm leg spinner Calvin Sookraj grabbed 2 – 18 from four overs.
