Ministry honours 112-year-old Matilda Lewis

At 112 years old, Matilda Lewis, who is believed to be the oldest woman in the Caribbean, last Friday received a presentation of a basket of goods and a bouquet of flowers from the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security.

The presentation was made to the centenarian at the Salvation Army Women’s Home, Wortmanville by Assistant Chief Social Services Officer (ag) Arnold Mickle, the Government Information Agency (GINA) reported.
Mickle made the presentation on behalf of Minister of Human Services and Social Security Priya Manickchand.

He told Lewis who is thought to be one of the oldest of 76 centenarians still alive that the ministry will continue to look into her welfare if the need arises.
