Rain continues to play havoc in UDFA Coca Cola tournament

Heavy rainfall which left the Mackenzie Sports Club ground in an unplayable condition combined with  heavy winds left the organizers with no other position than to temporarily suspend the Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA) Banks DIH Coca Cola-sponsored first-division league for teams in the mining town.

Secretary of the UDFA Rawle Blair told Stabroek Sport that even though the weather had prevented play in the last three scheduled rounds, he was optimistic that the tournament would  be completed before the year was out which would give the UDFA adequate time to run off their other tournaments.

“We have no control over the weather at this time of the year and I must say that this is the first time I have seen the Mackenzie Sports Club ground take awhile to drain. Previously when it rains, the ground would dry in quick time thus making it a playable surface, but of late it has been holding water with  slow drainage, ” said Blair.
