Lens Showroom robbed of paint

Bandit posed as watchman when MMC arrived

A Lens Showroom watchman was yesterday attacked and a quantity of paint was taken from the bond where he was posted at Le Ressouvenir, East Coast Demerara.

According to a police press release, Nazir Mohamed was in the guard hut when he was attacked by five men, one of whom was armed with a shotgun.

The men held him at gunpoint, broke into the bond, took away a quantity of paint and then escaped in a motor vehicle.
The release further said that during the robbery an alarm attached to the MMC security service was triggered.  However when an MMC patrol arrived at the scene one of the bandits met them at the gate and told the security personnel that he was the guard and that everything was alright, resulting in them leaving.

When the police arrived on the scene, upon being informed, the bandits had already left.
Investigations are continuing, the release said.
