Budhia died of asphyxiation

Budhia, the elderly woman, who died during a robbery at her Canal Number Two home on Monday, was asphyxiated, a post-mortem examination has revealed.

A police source told this newspaper yesterday that the post-mortem revealed that the woman died as a result of asphyxiation. In the early hours of Monday morning, bandits struck at 68-year-old Budhia’s Conservancy Dam, Canal Number Two, West Bank Demerara home, tightly trussing the three female occupants.

She died during the course of the hour-long incident. The bandits escaped with more than one million in cash and jewellery. One man remains in police custody.
