Forde and Silva storm to South American 10K wins

Guyana’s Cleveland Forde and Brazil’s Antonia Silva swept their respective categories of the sixth annual IAAF South American 10K Road Race Classic which rattled the roads of Georgetown yesterday.

Forde crossed the line in a time of 32:44.7s ahead of St. Vincent’s Pamenos Ballantyne who finished second with a time of 32:53.0s.
Richard Jones (T&T) – 33:02.1, Gustavo Perreria (Bra) – 33:12.1s and Guyana’s Lionel D’andrade (33:28.9s) occupied the next three places.
Brazil’s Silva successful defended her Guyanese soil victory when she thrashed the entire field in the female international category.

She won in a time of 38:02.70s ahead of Guyana’s Alika Morgan (39:00.90s), Kerticha John (T&T) – 43:04.90s, Ashanti Scott (Guy) -43:11.70s and Christine Regis (T&T) – 43:29.7s.
Up to press time last evening, the top place finishers for the Junior and Masters categories were inaccurate due to the mix of the registered athlete’s numbers.
