Giving back

Giving back: Colonel  Brian Chin, an old boy of St Stanislaus College donated software and computer equipment to school on Monday provided by the Toronto Alumni.  He urged the fifth formers to provide leadership to the rest of the school and to ensure that the school and its equipment were left intact so that another generation could benefit.  Chin who entered Saints in 1975 was recently elevated to the rank of Colonel in the US Marines. He served in Iraq, Korea and is now working in the Pentagon. The college association gave Colonel Chin a plaque in recognition of his outstanding achievements and the honour which he brought to the college.

The Institute

The Institute of Business Education has a school tradition for the Diwali observances whereby their Lusignan, Industry and Enmore branches design rangoli patterns as a way of observing the Festival of Lights. In picture is one of the rangoli patterns created by teachers and students of the institution on Monday.

Waste of money

Waste of money: Exactly two years ago government embarked on an ambitious plan to erect a sport facility at this location which was touted as the D’Urban Park development programme. $45 million was spent on clearing and filling the area, which is now back to square one. In the words of government spokesman Dr Roger Luncheon, “the view is to retain the park as a green area… don’t expect any high rising buildings.” He confirmed that the previous plan has now been quashed.
