Celebrating Eid ul Adha

Yesterday Muslims turned up at their respective mosques to celebrate Eid ul Adha. In this photo, Abdool Kaleem Razack (right) sits at the East Zanitul Mosque in Prashad Nagar with his relatives, Bibi Nazmoon Nesha and Bibi Rhaira Baksh. The trio was among other members who had gathered to watch the sacrifice of 14 cows and to collect some of the beef after a portion had been shared out to the persons waiting outside. This newspaper was told that 1/3 of the meat is kept for members of the mosque while the remainder is shared out to friends and those in need. A member of the Municipal Food & Hygiene/Abattoir was on hand to oversee the exercise.
