National disgrace…

National disgrace… This is the less than picturesque view of the Independence Arch on Brickdam in Georgetown. The Independence Arch was built in 1966 and handed over to the Prime Minister Forbes Burnham by the managing director of the Demerara Bauxite Company J G Campbell as a gift to the people of Guyana on the achievement of their independence. It is listed as a historic site on the National Trust of Guyana website. (Photo by Jules Gibson)
