Competing in the tournament for the second time, Interns’ Clarence Whitehead, who was a member of Anything which won the tournament a few years back, led his team with 11 points. In the end, Interns chalked up 30 points to their Georgetown counterparts’ Shop (24) and Linden’s Speed (14). Michael Vaughan (10) and Brian Edwards (9) offered support to Whitehead.

Interns walked away with the $75,000 first prize, the championship trophy and three replicas. Shop and Speed took home $30,000 and $15,000 respectively.

Darwin Parkes is a Canada-based Guyanese and the nationwide dominoes tournament marked his 50th birth anniversary.
