It is no fault of Mr Hamilton Green that he is still the Mayor of Georgetown, it is the fault of the government. There have been two general elections since 1994, but no local government election, and the A Good and Green Guyana which won the last election, is now non-existent and Mr Green is an executive member of the PNCR. Logically then, the PNCR is now running the affairs of the city.
As long as he mismanages and the bailouts are coming, the garbage will keep piling up to beautify the city.
Corruption seems to permeate the entire municipal administration. Georgetown has grown significantly; there are an enormous number of new homes, larger structures more housing areas and more vending. Obviously, if things are done efficiently more revenue will be collected, and if central government is building streets, clearing canals, purchasing pumps, etc, the financial situation should be better.
The entire top executive and the Mayor should be replaced. Crisis management is necessary.
