The Bedford Methodist Church on Sunday presented prizes to winners in its Spelling Bee competition. In a press release the Church said the contest was hosted as part of its Literacy Explosion programme. Fourteen children participated in three categories: six to eight years, nine to 11 and 12-16 years.
The release said each child received a certificate of participation, books and stationery while the winners received these items as well as monetary prizes and medals of excellence. Travis Thomas, winners Jaden Fypher and Tenishia Thomas, and Antawn Cobenna are pictured in the front row. Claude Ashby, Kiewart Gulliver, Stephen and Nicholas Fraser and Akeem Rowe also participated in the contest.
