As I understand it the idea of the Low Carbon Development Strategy is:
“Guyana leaves its forest standing and rich nations pay us”
Questions:
How much forest are we going to invest in this project?
How much money per hectare would be paid?
Who gets to share out this money?
What is the formula for sharing; forest dwellers ½ and the rest per person?
Who would ensure that the forest pledged is not cut or otherwise exploited?
Would we have to cede sovereignty in these areas to foreign nationals?
Is this a form of re-colonisation?
Is there an exit clause?
The Copenhagen document is already in draft, is it available to be read by Guyanese?
Former science advisor to Margaret Thatcher, Lord Monckton and many other scientist have declared that man made (anthropomorphic) global warming is a religion not science, have the president’s science advisors looked at these claims?
I am of the opinion that good governance demands a referendum after a period of education and consultation not wishy-washy political meetings, when a never-before-done project utilizing a large percentage of our national resource will be invested for generations to come.
