The Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC) has commended the public “for the expression of maturity and embracing the principles of religious tolerance during the observance of Diwali … at the Alexander Village Vishnu Mandir.” In a press release the ERC also lauded the efforts of the Guyana Police Force in maintaining law and order contributing to the peace and sanctity of the celebrations. The ERC said it remains committed to encouraging and creating respect for religious, cultural and other forms of diversity in Guyana.
