A 28-year-old man accused of having sex with a girl under the age of 12 was yesterday remanded to prison when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
The allegation is that on June 23 at St. Cuthbert’s Mission, Hubert Bernard had carnal knowledge of a girl under the age of 12.
Hubert Bernard was not required to plead to the indictable charge of carnal knowledge when it was read to him by the acting chief magistrate.
The matter was called to the bench and a lengthy discussion ensued.
The unrepresented Bernard was later remanded to prison until November 5.
