Would-be sheep thief shot at Tarlogie

A 28-year-old man, who was reportedly attempting to steal sheep, was shot several times at Tarlogie, Corentyne yesterday and he is currently under police guard at the New Amsterdam Hospital.

Three other persons are in custody assisting with investigations. Police said that the circumstances which led to the man of Hampshire Squatting Area, Corentyne being shot are being investigated. The incident occurred shortly after mid-day yesterday at Tarlogie.

This newspaper was told that the man was with another person on an apparent mission to steal sheep when the incident occurred. While the exact events that let up to the shooting are hazy, this newspaper was informed that the police at the Number 51 police station received a call and went to the area. However, by the time they arrived, the man had been shot. There was apparently a confrontation between the would-be thieves and the owner of the sheep.

Moore sustained injuries to his upper back, left shoulder and behind his neck. He is said to be in a serious condition at the hospital. Police said that a .32 revolver with six live matching rounds was recovered. Three persons are in custody assisting with investigations.
