Top performers awarded

A simple ceremony was held in the boardroom of Ansa McAl to award the top teams and individual performers of the recently-concluded Mackeson English/Kashif and Shaghai Futsal Tournament which was played at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

Managing Director of Ansa McAl Beverly Harper made brief remarks at the presentation where she stated that the company was proud to be associated with the tournament and thanked the teams who participated to make the tournament an outstanding success. “Since we have been there supporting the event, the teams seemed to be making progress so there is no reason why we should not be there again,” Harper said.

She also sent out the challenge to make the tournament bigger and better and to get every priority in order for next year’s tourney to make it a success.

Co-Director of the Kashif and Shanghai Organization, Kashif Muhammad, in  brief remarks expressed his gratitude  on behalf of the organization for the six years that Ansa McAl has been on board with them for the event.

He also thanked the teams that participated and the spectators who  attended, adding that the tournament could have gone better had they received the correct dates to contest the matches.

BK International Western Tigers came out on top against Alpha United in the final 3 – 2 to claim top honours while Flamingo FC outgunned Uprising 6 – 3 in the third place showdown.

Western Tigers received $500,000, Alpha United – $200,000, Flamingo – $100,000 and Uprising – $50,000.

Devon Millington was adjudged  the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the final for his terrific run and he also won the Highest Goal Scorer award by accumulating a total of 14 goals in five matches while the team’s goal keeper, Travis Bess, was named the Best Goal Keeper of the tournament.
