Youth in baker stabbing still at large

The youth, who fatally stabbed Charles-town baker, Damon Weatherspoon on Thursday remained on the run up to late yesterday afternoon.

The police, who had been looking for the youth since Weatherspoon succumbed at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) on Thursday night, have been unable to find him. However, relatives yesterday expressed confidence that he would be caught.

Weatherspoon called ‘Iso’, a baker of Adelaide Street, Charlestown died while undergoing emergency surgery at the Georgetown Public Hospital sometime before 9 pm on Thursday.

He had been stabbed after he had an altercation with the youth in an attempt to prevent him from harassing another man.

A relative had told this newspaper that following the altercation the youth left and moments later returned on his bicycle, pulled out an ice-pick and stabbed 41-year-old Weatherspoon in his chest. The wounded man was rushed to the GPH but died hours later.
